Have you noticed that some people get distracted very easily ?
They start doing a task and minutes later ...
They find themselves doing something else.
Leaving aside the one they started in the first place.
This happened to one of my students.
Her name was Linda.
She was the personal assistant of the CEO of a very important organization.
As you might know, CEOs are always busy, so they need their assistants to solve problems quickly and effectively.
That's where Linda had a serious problem.
She got easily distracted and lost focus.
Do you know what this means for a person who had so many tasks to complete?
Simple.
She couldn't finish any.
Maybe she started organizing her boss's schedule, and all of a sudden...
She was on her phone checking out the IG post she got tagged on.
Or talking to some co-workers.
This affected her productivity considerably.
At the end of the day when she had to show her boss all the tasks she had completed during the day.
She didn't have any.
It's kind of difficult to work with someone like that. Don't you think ?
This was what working with Linda meant.
So she wouldn't last long at a single job.
It was very difficult for anyone to trust her.
At the moment she had already been fired from 5 jobs in the same year.
She didn't last more than 3 months in any of them.
She was devastated.
Frustrated.
Depressed.
She knew there was something wrong.
There had to be a reason why she wasn't able to focus on a single task until it was completed...
But she couldn't identify what it was.
Until one day, she had a moment of clarity.

She realized that if she was going to help other people keep their lives in order...
She had to do that with her life first.
So she learned how to plan her days in detail.
You may think that this is not important.
But it is.
When you have established times for each task you need to complete.
Your brain automatically stays focused on completing the activity.
Why?
Because you have a limited time to do it.
Linda began by analyzing what her goals were for every day.
Then she looked at her week as a whole.
And finally, she made a clear and detailed to-do list.
To make sure every task got completed within the assigned time, she also started using the Pomodoro technique.
This technique is best for people who enjoy working in short focused sprints with frequent breaks.
This method includes the following steps:
Get a timer.
Set your timer for 25 minutes, and focus on a single task until the timer rings.
When your session ends, mark off one Pomodoro and record what you completed.
Enjoy a five-minute break.
After four intervals, or “pomodori,” take a longer, 20- to 30-minute break.
By doing this, Linda managed to overcome her focus problem.
And that allowed her to be more productive.
Nowadays, she can get more things done than ever before.
And she's really happy about that.
She has been working at the same company for 3 years now.
Plus, she has managed to climb the corporate ladder than the one she started at.
Now, she even aspires to get to the C-suite one day.
If you want success, you need to stay focused ...
And for doing that, planning is non-negotiable.
Plan your goals.
Plan your strategy.
Plan your day.
Plan for success.
