Just some musings from an old, tired, cop.

I will not swear that everything I say below is completely accurate. I am basing this information off the news reports surrounding the capital “insurrection” that they still have not released any public information on.

Everybody in the world knew, or should have known, that in January there was going to be a problem at the capital. Neither side of the issue was going to quietly sit back and accept the decision of Congress. Regardless of the way the vote went that day, there was going to be misconduct by some, and unpleasant disbelief by many. Any rookie officer or kindergarten student could tell you that. However, the capital police decided to do absolutely nothing in preparation. The officers received no extra training, no extra equipment, no shift reassignments, no hardening of the capital, nothing. It is as if they wanted a riot to occur.

The FBI warned the capital police in the week preceding the vote, that there were large masses of known activists headed for the capital in advance of the vote taking place. Yet, the capital police took no precautions. It is as if they wanted a riot to occur.

On the day of the vote, large masses of boisterous individuals, from both sides, descended upon the capital, and nothing was done. Extra manpower was not called in, reserve forces were not activated, assistance from sister agencies was not requested. It is as if they wanted a riot to occur.

When the incident first began, it was mishandled. Mainly because the on duty officers had not been trained in how to properly deal with incidents of this type. Secondly, they were so overwhelmed by the response; they were scared and resorted to responding to fear rather than tactics. Third, they had not boosted their ranks to deal with crowds of this magnitude. This is evident by one officer shooting through a door, into a crowd and striking an unarmed woman in the neck, and killing her. This was done in sheer unadulterated terror due to lack of training. To our knowledge, they still have not dealt with this illegal murder.

To verify what I am saying, all you need to do is listen and watch the congressional hearings of the “psychologically wounded” officers crying on the witness stand about the terrifying ordeal they survived. Let us call these “officers” what they are, playground monitors. If this had been a real insurrection, the country would have been overthrown on that day. Simply because the police force was not prepared. This insurrection looked more like the end of a high school football game than an attempt to overthrow the government.

If you wish to protect the Congress from the citizens that are supposed to own and control it, than institute a real law enforcement agency to insure the protection of the buildings and people. Make it a standalone agency, insulated from the whims of the speaker of the house. Give it the authority to act legally to protect our capital.

As I said at the beginning, just some thoughts from an old man that is tired of this excrement.
