Helping people makes us happy. As we strive to live with purpose and meaning, helping people becomes a core part of the journey. Many people go through life without realizing the impact that they have on others, so our words of gratitude can be incredibly powerful in boosting self-esteem and confidence. One of the greatest gifts that we can give is to tell someone that they have had a positive impact on our lives.

An attitude of gratitude
Expressing gratitude doesn't have to be reserved for monumental or life-changing actions. Even small gestures or everyday acts of kindness can have a significant impact. By expressing our thanks, we not only uplift the spirits of those around us but also foster a sense of connection and appreciation. It reminds people that their actions, no matter how small, matter and are valued.
We all have the power to make others feel better. By acknowledging the positive impact someone has had on us, we provide them with a sense of fulfillment and purpose. Knowing that their efforts have been recognized and appreciated can be deeply rewarding and can inspire them to continue making a positive difference in the lives of others.

Connected to purpose
In her book Grit, Angela Duckworth defines purpose as “the intention to contribute to the well-being of others.” And Brené Brown writes in her book Daring Greatly that “connection, along with love and belonging is why we are here, and it is what gives purpose and meaning to our lives.”

Together, these perspectives suggest that purpose is not merely an individual pursuit but is intricately tied to our relationships and our impact on others. It is through our connections and contributions to the well-being of others that we find deep meaning and a sense of purpose that can sustain us and bring greater joy and fulfillment.

Be a shining light
In his book, Big Potential Shawn Achor says “The more that you help people find their light, the brighter you both will shine.” When we help others discover their unique strengths, talents, and potential, we not only contribute to their growth and well-being but also create a ripple effect that positively impacts the world around us.
By supporting others in their journey, we inspire and empower them to embrace their own brilliance and achieve their goals. This act of selflessness and kindness not only brings fulfillment and joy to their lives but also enriches our own. When we see someone that we have helped thrive, it brings a sense of satisfaction, pride, and interconnectedness.
Further, when we help others find their light, we contribute to the betterment of the world. The collective brightness of humanity intensifies as more individuals discover and utilize their unique gifts and talents. So, embrace the power of helping others find their light, for in doing so, we not only brighten their path but also illuminate our own journey towards a more fulfilling and interconnected existence.
Our lives are intertwined and our actions have a profound effect on others. When we express gratitude for the positive impact that others have on us, it promotes a sense of shared purpose and fosters a stronger sense of interconnectedness and community. So, just say it; don’t hold back – have an attitude of gratitude, support others in their journey, and tell people about the positive impact that they have had on us.
