Not just a piece of writing but rather a life as a whole
Statutory guideline- This review is brought to you by a once insomniac and depressed soul. Even though the book is from a feminine pov, but reading this book might trigger the past traumas of any individual. The author has strictly warned not to areas between the lines, so read at your own risk.
The preface of Prosody of Borderline speaks for itself and is what you can expect from this book as a whole. It has pain, grief, agony, first-hand experiences, and the conditions one might go through.
Let's talk about the book and the themes it deals with, through a poem
Drowning in medication's grip
Hope fades as side effects trip;
Mind and soul poisoned by the cure
Leaving nightmares that will endure.
Parenting is not a game of chance
Where children are lost in a mystical trance;
Their voices and desires are often suppressed
Leaving them feeling unheard and stressed.
Chasing death, we run in fear
Hoping to avoid what's drawing near
But let us live life without regret
And make each day one we won't forget.
Prejudices cast a long shadow,
Innocents suffer with no place to go.
Lost souls wander, seeking a friend,
To guide them home and make them whole again.
Trapped in a cage, our spirits wilt,
As the world around us becomes a battlefield,
But amidst the chaos and clamor of life,
We find peace and strength in our own strife.

Death awaits us all in the end
Leaving us with memories to defend
Leaving a legacy for those we leave behind;
To keep our light shining in their mind.
Ritam has used imagery and symbolizations in most of the pieces in this book to portray a hard-hitting truth and darker phase that one went through. On one hand, it shows us how nightmares eat us from the inside on another hand it slammed the concept of parenthood in those tough times. The poems especially 'Haunting' feels so tranquil; peaceful even in the reminiscing of the darkest past. It has agony, it has truths of life. The chasing of nightmares never stops; you can't run away or hide from them. They will end up engrossing one and run alongside them parallelly. Through the haikus, poems, and proses, Ritam has slammed on the myopic vision of the inner circle and the world outside to judge something by their belief without knowing what truths they hold.
When the loneliness consumes us and the shackles of depression took hold of us. all we urge is to hold the hands of someone not to get drowned and to get freed. We saw a shocking rise in the graph of mental health issues that still continues even though the times have changed. Even though we are now free from that frightening period, the dark phase it had developed will remain with us forever, and the demons of nightmares will keep continuing to haunt us as long as we live. Prosody of Borderline will remain a valuable read as long as poetry thrives, and readers who prefer reading between the words and lines experience the poetry, as not just a piece of writing but rather a life as a whole.

"Every time?
my heart is broken
I die
a little.
I have?
thirty more years to live
and?
too little Life left?
to make it through." ?― Ritam, Prosody of Borderline
