Just A Monday Morning

Just A Monday Morning

Monday, Coffee, and the Mysterious Disappearance of the Weekend: A Journey of Ambition, Or Lack Thereof

Hopefully, you enjoyed your weekend and managed to get back to, well, you. We spend so much time running from one task to the next that the idea of a weekend almost seems mythical. Wasn’t it just Friday? One blink and, suddenly, here we are — Monday.

I know I found a little peace, but now, as I sit here typing, struggling to form coherent thoughts, I can only half-open one eye. The other? Reserved for something much more important than the monitor in front of me: the very real, very pressing need for coffee. Again.

But here's the thing — there’s none. The cup of ambition we all joke about? Gone. Nothing. And I swear, if my dogs have stolen yet another sip from the mug when I wasn’t looking, there might be a Monday morning mystery to solve in this house! I’m kidding, of course. But am I?

I stumble, half-awake, soggy from a fresh shower, with no hope in sight. Maybe this is just one of those Mondays. You know the ones — where time folds in on itself, and you’re left wondering how you got here, and more importantly, why. The weekend disappeared into the ether, and your enthusiasm with it.

Ain’t that something? Fridays start with this electric sense of freedom, like anything is possible. But when Monday comes, it’s like your motivation took an extended vacation without you. And the funny thing? I don’t think I’m alone here. We’ve all been in that moment — standing in front of the mirror, freshly scrubbed and ready, yet your mind is back in bed, contemplating pulling the covers back over your face.

Is it wrong to want to hit pause on life and crawl back into comfort? Asking for a friend.

But hold up. Let’s think about this. Why do Mondays feel like this? Maybe it’s not the day itself but how we’ve framed it. We see Monday as the end of freedom, the call back to responsibility, the reminder that we are part of a never-ending cycle of work. But what if we flipped that perspective? What if Monday wasn’t the end of something good but the start of something better?

Yeah, I know, it sounds a bit cliché, but think about it. Monday is the launchpad. It’s where we decide what the rest of the week will look like. It's the prologue, not the epilogue. And maybe, just maybe, it could be a little less painful if we stop seeing it as the villain in our weekly story. After all, even heroes need a fresh start.

So, what if you woke up tomorrow and gave Monday a purpose? A mission? Instead of crawling back under the covers, maybe we could reclaim that ambition, without the cup. If dogs can drink coffee (again, kidding… I think), surely we can manage to find a little spark somewhere between yawns and deadlines.

For now, I’ll leave you with this: Is it bad to pull the covers back over your face? No, it’s not bad. In fact, sometimes it’s necessary to cocoon yourself before you emerge, like the Monday phoenix you are, ready to take on whatever the world throws at you.

So, stay classy, Ohio. Or wherever you’re waking up. And if you’re out of coffee? Maybe it's time to find a new source of fuel.
