Not just 'Marketers'... Aren't all 'Humans' born Storytellers...?
We, humans, are great storytellers, thereby we connect with great stories.
There are a million product stories today, we have the ability to pick, choose, and connect with the ones that are truly inspiring and the ones’ that touch us emotionally.
Children are some of the greatest storytellers.
Often, we see children talk to themselves, with an object of interest, like a crayon which they draw to express, or a toy that they play. With fascination and excitement, the stories they weave are way beyond their intellect (that's what we think). When we take a close look, they are all beautiful imaginations. How they choose to translate those complex imaginations are such gems. Who trained them?
'Storytelling' is the best way to connect meaning and emotions.
Stories become superlative only when it truly moves human emotions and motivations. Emotion is BEING happy, sad, elated, depressed, ecstatic, while motivation is ACTING on emotions to empower, achieve, help, improve, etc. The art of ‘Storytelling’ is aimed at translating the essence that captures the sense of feeling.
For centuries, stories have been an integral part of civilizations, cultures & generations. It is fascinating to note that stories are built around everything we see, consume, and interact, as the truth is we love stories. The habits, rituals, cultures, beliefs have great stories twined within, being the one common point that connects everything.
We as humans are born storytellers, we often tend to forget, or most of us don't believe we are.
Product marketing stories, be it for children or grown-ups, there is a story for every demographic, location, culture, and use case. With today's advent of social media, we see similar products, e.g., Fast Food has such diverse ways of storytelling for the same category they all operate within.
The confluence of images, colors, point of view, and relevance sets the stage. Today, we have many tools, platforms, and avenues to showcase the best stories, be it products, services, use cases, and many more.
When we dig deeper, we can sense the influence that the brand creates through their stories, and the impact it builds on the consumers. In my upcoming articles, I wish to get into more scenarios and examples of storytelling and how product marketing stories have impacted the consumers.
Thank You for your time. Happy Reading, and feel free to share and add your thoughts to the comments section.

4 年Interesting take! As we grow older we loose our inner child, reconnecting to this nature is probably the best way to be creative and strike the cord.
