"Just lost a big client."

Question from a subscriber: "Sara, I am feeling the pain. Just lost my biggest client and I have no idea how I am even going to make it up."


No loss; here's how to invest the time that you have gained by that client leaving.

Take these actions TODAY:


  • Mark time on your calendar for one hour a day.
  • At the beginning of that hour, say this to yourself. "My goal is to contact 20 people I know in business, to get a meeting with them, and talk."
  • Then say this to yourself, "Out of the 20 people I talk to each day, I expect 3-5 of them to have some type of interest in continuing to engage with me in some way that has the potential to produce revenue."
  • Then call 20 people.
  • See how it goes for three days. Remember to say the "My goal" sentence at the beginning of every "calling hour."
  • Adjust your approach if you don't hit these goals.


You may not replace that huge client, but you will probably stir up some momentum and at least get somebody to do business with you.
