Just a Little Planning

It is not only important to have a marketing plan and to follow it. You must also avoid common marketing plan mistakes to prevent wasting your time and resources. A well designed marketing plan can make the difference between having a successful business and not having a successful business.

5 common marketing mistakes made by a legal nurse consultants are as follows:

1. Being too general

Trying to target too large of a segment of the population can result in your being unsuccessful in your marketing. You need to thoroughly understand your customer's needs and convey your understanding of their needs and the solution you have to their needs. The smaller your target market the easier it is to clearly define the problem and the solution.

2. Not enough diversification in your marketing plan

A marketing plan is not just about advertising. It encompasses all your marketing efforts including such activities as networking, making presentations, customer support, and branding. Be sure to include a variety of methods you will use to market your business.

3. Changing your marketing methods too often and too quickly

Many legal nurse consultants will try a particular marketing method for a short period of time, often less than 1 - 2 months. When the method does not bring the results they were hoping for they switch to a different method, and then switch again. This random fire approach to marketing will not lead to success. You must chose a few method and stick with them for a number of months before you will know if they will work for you.

4. Selling on price

Positioning yourself as the lowest price provider is generally not a successful marketing strategy. Having the lowest price will cheapen the value of your service in the eyes of your customers. Would you hire an attorney simply because he is the cheapest in town?

5. Ignoring current customers

For most businesses current customers will generate 80 percent of the revenue for a business. Having a strong base of repeat business is critical to the success of your nurse entrepreneur business. Be sure that your marketing plan does not only focus on bringing in new customers. You need to build strong solid relationships with your existing customers as well.

Evaluate your marketing plan now to see if you are making any of these mistakes. If you are rework your marketing plan before it is too late. In a tight economy there is less room for error so take action now!
