Just a little better each day
Wednesday 7/24/19...
I don't know whether to be happy or disappointed in ourselves, but this is the 4th day in a row I've been able to wake up at 6am to get the day started on this vacation. It's been tougher for me to come up with something to write about this week because I'm not going much other than logging client hours.
There's no point - by the time I log enough hours for the morning, we've found something to do. I came down here to spend time with family, not work. Although I'm quite proud of the work I've been able to squeeze in while down here.
When I get back, I've got a lot of work to dig into. I need to build a lot more structure into my offerings, pricing, and delivery. While it's nice to have flexibility, it makes it more difficult for me to not only find new clients but make it easy for them to see the value I bring in working with them.
I also need to break this cycle of working for hours. It's just not scalable. And if I want to turn my freelance business into an actual agency, that's not the way to go about it. I need a repeatable process that allows me to control both the sales process and the client deliverables. That way I can actually delegate the work once I max out my availability.
Right now, I'm selling myself - the work I physically do. It becomes significantly harder to justify handing off pieces of the project. I can only do so much work in a day, so it becomes a very low ceiling that I cannot grow beyond, And for now, that's okay, but the sooner I make that witch, the sooner I'll be able to achieve my goals.
I know exactly what I need to do, my biggest challenge is self-confidence. The minute things don't start working, I attempt to pivot to something new. I get stuck in this perpetual state of planning with very little execution. I need to do a better job of learning from my failures and applying these lessons in a more impactful way.

This is an entry from my personal daily journal. I recently left the 9-5 to work for myself - something I've dreamed of for as long as I can remember. It's my hope that these posts inspire anyone looking to do the same or shed some light on what this journey is really like.
