Just listen...

Had to put this up. Seeing so much trash on twitter from ignorant white folk.
If you are white there is no need to feel guilty if you’re not consciously racist. I don’t feel guilty coz I know I’m not racist.
But that doesn’t mean that black people have the same fair opportunity as me. And it also doesn’t mean that being white hasn’t blocked someone of colour from having the same opportunities as me.
The reason why the book “why I’m no longer talking to white people about racism”, is good, is because it’s enlightening for white folk like you and me. I’m reading it again to remind myself of the real issues and forgotten history.
Also, instead of saying “black people are rioting and looting” (the far right news like Fox and white folk Twitter account feeds are full of it), it’s better to think of it as undermined, undervalued , disenfranchised, hopeless, often poor, abused, marginalised, victimised, restrained, and discriminated communities making a stand because they have had enough and its gone on for far too long. And yes, there are criminals and left wing activists hijacking events with criminal intent - black and White. Don’t let that distract you. It happens in football too.
Consider this. Middle-class and affluent black people commit less crime in the US and UK than their white counterpart. The colour conversation mixed up in the crime conversation is playing into the hands of true racists.
Also, Law enforcement and white guilt activities apologising for being white and kneeling is missing the point and detracting from the real issues that require a mindset change, wholesale reform and genuine equal opportunity for all.
No need for virtue singling. Just listen to your black friends, don’t try and justify yourself and try to understand what it must be like to be black and growing up in the US and the UK.
Just listen. Then change what you need to change in you first.
