Christmas has lost its essence for many, engulfed by the drinking sprees, the splurging, the merry-making that we forget that the little man in the manger symbolized the rekindling of wilted dreams, springing forth of despondent hopes and rejigging of broken life support systems – love, faith, grace and compassion.
Like paper money passed from one had to the other, this loss of value is also applicable to excellence.
Excellence is when we win awards and several pats on the back.
Excellence is when our pictures hang in the company’s central lobby.
Excellence is when our offices are littered with laurels.
But what if we redefine this word to mean being so good at what we are naturally good at – writing, singing, leading, painting, directing, whatever art it is – that we truly inspire others to look within and pull out their own greatness?
