4.?????? Just Keep Swimming
?
Initially this was titled ‘Discipline’ but that seemed a bit dull ??.? Just keep swimming – taken from one of my favourite children’s films? Finding Nemo – where Dory to achieve what she wanted cheerfully said “just kept swimming”.? It also reminds me of something I heard when I set off on the Devizes to Westminster 24hr non-stop kayak race – just keep paddling and eventually you’ll get to Westminster. ?True, simple and powerful.? ?You need motivation to run your own business but you need discipline even more so.? The discipline to get up every day, be proactive and make sh*t happen.? ??If you keep getting up everyday with a mindset to add value to your clients and you get stuff done – you’re more likely to be successful.? ?Just keep swimming, get sh*t done and results will come.

5.?????? Own everything
This one could be 1-15 repeated 15 times! ???As a business owner – everything and I mean everything is your responsibility.? You have to own everything.? If you ever shirk this responsibility it will bite you in the arse. ??If I’m not happy with anything I have to look at myself first – no one else, and I’m the one that will need to make changes to get a different result.? Modelling this behaviour for your colleagues means they are more likely do the same. ??The buck will always stop with me and I’m accountable for everything and developing a culture of ownership is essential for any successful business.

6.?????? Its not life and death.. have a giggle
I’m very passionate about who we are, what we stand for and what we do.? But lets be clear its not life and death is it.? Outside of some of our clients in the NHS I struggle to think of anyone we work with where it is life and death.?? I think its vital for my colleagues and I to have perspective, have balance in our lives and have fun at work.? If we’re enjoying ourselves I think this will be represented in the quality of what we deliver.? I love having a playful style of facilitation and always looking for something or someone which will make me giggle in a workshop or with my colleagues.
