Just keep learning
There's nothing quite like receiving a certificate - even by post, rather than at a glitzy ceremony.
Today, I received an award for ten years of marking GCSE Media Studies exams. It's something I've dedicated time and effort to in the hope of helping a new media-savvy generation. But being recognised for it is a bonus.
There's always something new to learn and every year I have to focus in detail on a particular element of the media - a fascinating process. Much of it is familiar, but there's always something new to discover. Sometimes, from the candidates themselves.
And I won't stop learning. I'm nearly half-way through an online Shakespeare exploration, as well as ongoing French polishing (the language, not furniture). Bring it on!
