Not just a job

Benjamin, tell us about yourself prior O’Tacos.

Life and personal reasons rerouted my plans, so after military school I decided to join EDHEC Business School and start studying economics. During that time I had the opportunity to work for a major FMCG brand, as Commercial Key Account; but that wasn’t really the ideal job for me.

Why?

Even though I acquired a lot of knowledge, and learned how a big corporate is structured, I felt my job was very static, and my own impact was not really visible in the end, being diluted in a huge series of steps and people. That was why I decided to onboard another experience.

…which is the one prior to O’Tacos; what was that?

I worked for a multi-franchising company in Ireland, and my scope was very broad as I had to recruit people, follow the new openings and the operations, and I felt very pleased. I came back to France when Covid hit.

And then the O’Tacos chapter came. How did it go?

When back in France I wanted to have a similar job as the previous. I was contacted by O’Tacos to be recruited as Area manager. And I immediately liked it; that job was not only checking hygiene standard or doing something only by protocol, it was really about standing by the franchisee’s side, being a business partner. At the moment, I manage 3 district managers.

What do you like most about your job in O’Tacos?

Being in O’Tacos is extremely exciting because it’s one of the top player in France. It’s growing a lot, it’s dynamic. Everyone has a voice and that’s why there are a lot of powerful ideas; it is not just doing the job, it is about feeling part of an ongoing journey, something you believe in; you start from scratch with a bigger idea in mind. That is what I like about my job!
