Just imagine life after Corona

Just imagine life after Corona

I don't know about you but lately I've found myself reading a whole lot of doomsday articles about how long Corona is going to last and how dire the global situation is. As you can imagine, that kind of content is doing wonders for my anxiety, so I decided to pour my energy into writing something that's a bit more positive and uplifting. It might seem a little cheesy, but hey, we fake it until we make it right? Join me if you will in imagining life after Corona.

Restaurants

People will be ecstatic to dine out again. They'll greet their friends at restaurants with warm hearts and they'll order off the menu with uncontrollable glee. When their food is served, they'll graciously thank waiters instead of barely acknowledging their existence, and they'll spend hours reflecting on those "Corona days" long after the bill has been paid. You'll probably have to book a table weeks in advance, but that will make you smile.

Gyms

In group fitness classes, members will stop arguing over who's standing in the front row and will just be thankful to be there. People won't look miserable on treadmills anymore and weightlifters will stop dropping their dumbbells on the floor after every set. Actually, I doubt that habit will stop but they will start apologizing to fellow gym-goers for the noise pollution because they're just grateful to be alive.

Offices

People will be so excited to get back to work, for a while at least. They'll arrive and greet every single person in their office instead of strategically ignoring the ones they don't like. They'll accept briefs and deadlines with big ol' smiles, and they'll cherish staying late at the office. Bosses will be much more accepting of their employees working from home after witnessing how efficient they were during the pandemic. Stress in business will decrease greatly across the board.

Outdoors

Walkers and joggers will have smiles plastered all over their faces. We won't take nature for granted anymore – we'll admire the trees and the greenery, and bask in the fresh air. We'll litter less and savor every inch of the outdoors after being cooped up for so long. We'll barely stay home and go outside much more often.

Hand washing

20-second hand-washing becomes the norm. In fact, people will begin to cherish these 20 seconds because it will remind them of how safe and secure this ritual made them feel during times of crisis. Hand-washing becomes a comfort, not just a necessity.

Children

After the trials of e-learning, parents will appreciate schools even more for taking their kids off their hands for such an extended period of time. They'll also start to cherish quality moments with their kids after getting so much of it during lockdown. They'll check their phones less and listen to their kids more. They'll take them outdoors and never complain about their kids wanting to stay out just a bit longer to play.

Cinemas

Cinemas will be packed with all the delayed blockbusters and we'll all be there waiting in line. We'll watch every trailer in awe and no one will talk and ruin the movie. The communal experience of going to the cinema will become treasured, and people will stream content at home a whole lot less (again, bad memories). Sorry Netflix!

Family

We'll stop taking relationships with our loved ones for granted. The second Corona is over, we'll travel (or cross the street) to see our loved ones once more. We'll spend quality time with them and never check our phones during special moments. After all, social media and endless notifications will remind us of times spent indoors and the toxic influx of breaking news. The little disagreements won't matter anymore, the love will thrive.

--

So the next time it all feels like too much, try to imagine how great life will be after Corona. We're going to get through this after all, and it will be beautiful.

What excellent thoughts! Here's hoping we maintain such good habits and positivity (and not grow complacent as we may sometimes do) after this situation stabilises!
