Just hit post in 2025: what I've learned on my creator journey

Last year, Chelsea Lockwood and I led our entire Marketing & Communications org to “Climb Cringe Mountain” (a.k.a. we encouraged our team to start posting on LinkedIn with more confidence — shoutout to Erica Mallett 's video for sparking the idea!).

Inspiring others to share their voice wasn’t just something I talked about; it was something I committed to myself. Over the past year, I’ve consistently created content on LinkedIn , and the results show it: nearly 1M impressions, a 13.2% increase in followers, and 1K+ newsletter subscribers.

As a Product Marketing Manager who works on LinkedIn’s creator experience, I help shape the products that empower people to share their knowledge on this very platform. But this past year, I’ve also been living the creator experience — experimenting, learning, and navigating the same challenges as everyone else when it comes to hitting “Post.”

So, what did I learn? What helped me grow? And how can you build your presence on LinkedIn in 2025? Let’s dive in.

?? The Power of Showing Up: My Analytics

Numbers don’t tell the full story, but they do help illustrate the impact of consistency. In 2024... drumroll please:

? My content reached 982,728 impressions — that's nearly a million times that my content was shown on LinkedIn, which boosted my visibility and reach.

? I gained 13.2% more followers — proof that my content resonated with a larger audience.

? I hit 1K newsletter subscribers (thank you all!) — a clear signal that my audience finds value in what I share and wants to hear from me regularly.

What mattered most beyond these numbers was the engagement — real people commenting, DMing me for advice, and stopping me in the hallways at work to share that my content inspired them.

?? Wins

Looking back, a few moments stood out:

?? A video I created about what PMMs do was used in social ads across the globe

?? It was featured by one of my favorite LinkedIn creators, Erin McGoff

?? It even made it into my company’s all-hands meeting as an example of great video content

But beyond the reach and recognition, what's stuck with me the most has been...

?? The Human Impact

Nothing has been more rewarding than hearing how my content has inspired others.

?? Early-career professionals have told me that my posts helped them figure out their career path.

?? Senior colleagues have shared that they finally decided to try video content because of my posts.

?? Walking in a Creator’s Shoes

Since I work on our creator products, I have a whole new level of empathy for what it's like to put yourself out there. Now that I've built my own creator habit, I get it.

When you’re the one hitting “Post,” suddenly, you understand:

? The excitement of seeing the likes, comments, and notifications roll in.

? The vulnerability of sharing your thoughts publicly.

? The confidence boost when a post resonates — and the disappointment when it doesn't.

? The occasional anxiety of wondering, “Will anyone even care about this?”

This experience has made me a better marketer and a stronger advocate for our members. I now bring firsthand insights into product discussions. I’m not just building for creators — I am one!

?? Want to Post More in 2025? Here’s My Advice:

If you want to share your voice on LinkedIn this year, here are my three biggest tips:

?? 1. Share What You Know:

You don’t need to be an “expert.” You just need to share what you’re learning.

For me, that means pulling insights from my day-to-day as a PMM to help others navigate their careers. Think about what you naturally talk about with friends and colleagues — that's a great place to start.

?? 2. Build a Community, Not Just an Audience:

It’s tempting to focus on vanity metrics like ??'s and follower count, but the real magic happens in the comments and DMs. Some of my best insights and connections have come from conversations sparked by my posts.

Reply to comments. Ask the follow-up questions. Genuinely engage.

Instead of broadcasting your content, think about how you can start a conversation. The more you interact, the more LinkedIn becomes a two-way street.

?? 3. Stay Resilient:

Here’s the hard truth: Not every post will perform well.

Some will flop. Some will get zero likes from people you expected to support you (yep, even your boss or close friends). It happens to everyone.

But instead of chasing validation, focus on consistency and value.

Some of my best performing posts weren’t the ones I thought would take off — they were the ones that genuinely helped someone.

So when a post doesn’t land? Keep going. Your audience might be silent, but that doesn’t mean they’re not watching or benefiting from what you share.

?? Apoorva's Final Thoughts: Just Hit Post!

Creating on LinkedIn has been an incredible journey — not just for my career, but also for my personal growth.

It’s given me a platform to share knowledge, connect with amazing professionals, and build a personal brand that reflects who I am.

If you’re thinking about posting more in 2025, here’s my biggest piece of advice:

Just start.

Your voice matters. Your insights are valuable. And you never know who might be inspired by what you have to say.

I’d love to hear from you — what’s been your biggest challenge when it comes to posting? Drop a comment below, and let’s keep the convo going!
