Just get the damn colonoscopy already.
(a little colonoscopy motivation on the bathroom wall)

Just get the damn colonoscopy already.

(Hey there, friend. I see you hiding, putting it off…)

I’ve been navigating a recent health scare.

I needed a colonoscopy. Pronto.

The GI clinic elevated my case to the front of the line, and I only had a few days to prepare my body and my headspace.

I knew this would be coming.

I knew this was the next logical test in the multiple round of tests and procedures.

?????? ?????????????? ???????? ?????????????? ?????? ???????????? ??’?????? ????????, ?? ???????? ??????:

?? This is going to royally suck.

?? I wish I didn’t have to go through this.

?? What’s the prep going to be like?

?? Am I going to throw up from drinking 4 liters of this stuff?

?? Will I get so dehydrated that I pass out?

?? What happens if the doctor finds polyps, or worse?

?? What if …

It was endless.

After going into an epic tailspin, I got quiet, I put my head on straight.

I got right with myself.

???? ?? ???????????????? ?????? ???????? ?????? ?? ???????? ??????:

All my years of teaching and practicing several hot yoga classes a day taught me well about proper hydration:

? So I bought some high quality coconut water and electrolyte beverages (no high fructose corn syrup garbage for this girl).

All my years of Yoga-ing and meditation taught me that how we can reconnect with ourselves OFF the yoga mat, in our daily lives, is the true measure of our practice:

? So I incorporated Yoga Nidra, breathing, and mindful movement practices to help balance my frazzled nervous system.

All my years as a former middle and high school teacher taught me that even the ones at the front of the room need some motivation and hand-holding to get through challenges:

??So I printed inspirational reminders and taped them to my bathroom wall across from the toilet. This made all the difference. Especially at 3am when I was cursing the colonoscopy gods.

And you know what? I made it though.

The anticipation was the worst part, and it wasn’t nearly as bad as I imagined.

I’m going to be okay. Beyond grateful.

And perhaps I needed this EPIC wakeup call:

?????????? ???? ?????????????? ???????? ?????????????????? ???????? ???????????????????????? ???? ???????????? ?????? ????????-??????????.

Nothing.

When the body speaks, it's our responsibility to listen.

This is so important as we age.

Critical, even.

How do you show up for yourself, even when it’s hard?

And who + what do you lean on when you need a little motivation?
