Not Just Cesium Iodide (CsI) but Direct Deposit CsI

If you’re not familiar with modern state-of-the-art x-ray technology, you may not be familiar with Cesium Iodide (CsI), which found in flat panel detectors. This is the highest level of technology used to reduce the radiation dose required for each x-ray shot while also achieving clean, higher-resolution images.

CsI is one of the brightest scintillators in the world. A scintillator is a material that luminesces when excited by ionizing radiation. Luminescent materials, when struck by an incoming particle, absorb its energy and remits the absorbed energy in the form of light. In particular, CsI is used at the input phosphor of an x-ray image intensifier. CsI photocathodes are highly efficient at extreme ultraviolet wavelengths as a light producing agent.

So, where does this cesium iodide come from? The CsI crystals are grown to demanding standards and directly deposited onto each panel using patented technology, whereas other panel manufacturers purchase and glue the high-performance material. Direct deposit CsI, combined with state-of-the-art electronic components and patented advanced signal processing techniques, creates the perfect combination for low dose, industry-leading image quality.

Since our flat panel detectors use the direct deposit process, we are able to minimize the amount of isotropic lateral scattering, which means the best resolution images. This advanced process also allows the least photo coupling loss, which means the best quantum efficiency and detective quantum efficiency (DQE).
