Just care....

I wanted to share a link to a very important campaign being led by Deb, a woman who is my friend and someone I admire very much, Deb is raising money and awareness to support her 92 year old mum Cath stay with her family, rather than go into a care home.

Cath and her whole family have invested a huge amount personally and professionally into supporting people who need it most. The family have spent their professional lives in social care, education and supporting the voluntary community. I know from personal experience their kindness and generous spirited approach to life has supported many of their friends through difficult times.

Cath is now at a point in her life where she needs that support. Her family house has been sold, the money already gone on care and her choices are limited.

My experience of care homes has been the people who work there are exceptional and often underpaid and undervalued for the amazing work they do. However when someone wants to remain at home, with a family willing and able to undertake a huge amount of the care, I believe someone like Cath has earned that choice.

Tomorrow a group of people will be walking 20 miles to start a campaign to raise the money to help Cath stay at home.If you would like donate please follow the link on the just giving page please do.
