Expecting officers to exercise "good judgment in the community's best interest" requires a sustainable commitment to selection, hiring, training, education, leadership, accountability, operations, and administration. Unfortunately, the widespread vilification of policing is undermining this process by driving away our best and brightest officers and making it harder to attract new officers.
