Just Another Day at the Ballpark
I have a been a Boston Red Sox fan since I was a kid. Fred Lynn, Jim Rice, Carl Yastrzemski, Carlton Fisk, the list goes on and on and I could name so many more. I had a signed Rico Petriocelli ball that my grandmother got from a game many moons ago. Denny Doyle was my favorite player when I saw my first game - Red Sox vs. Yankees at Shea Stadium (no not a mistake that says Shea Stadium former home of the NY Mets). Roy White and Denny got into it and I believe White was ejected. The pitchers were Catfish and The Spaceman... look it up (HINT: it was 1975). I was home watching tv when Bucky Dent hit it over the monster. Ouch. That was an afternoon game on a weekday. Think about how much has changed since then.
Fenway Park is so old and has so much history, that it is listed on the National Registry of Historic Places. Now, trust me, I could bore you to tears with trivia related to the Red Sox, Fenway Park of just Boston in general, but we will save that to another time.
So... It was a great thrill to find out from one of our favorite customers that they had arranged to do a television commercial with Boston Red Sox #1 pitcher Chris Sale. And on top of that we would be doing in Fenway Park! Say what?!?! Hell yeah. This is great.
As part of the process of doing a production like this, it is typical to do a site survey to determine which locations and areas would be best for filming the script.
So much to choose from. We considered the bull pen, which we thought might be cool, but once we saw it we reconsidered. Not bad, but much better options were available.
We then started to look at and consider other parts of the stadium.
And even behind home plate....
While we were standing here I said, "Lets take a look at doing it on top of the Green Monster. The famous 40' high fence in left field (its actually 37').
Max smiled and said, "I think that can work."
Yeah, I think you are right Max. This can definitely work.
Wish I was at Fenway!
