Just another blow-up ??
Just another blow-up ??
My post-pandemic work life transformation was not my first redo.
I more than blew up my career in 2018 after reevaluating everything and leaving my secure Corporate America director role at 英特尔 to become the #CEO and founder of an #AI software startup focused on making children safer online and in real life.
If you want to know more about how I blew up my career founding Minor Guard back in 2018, listen to this episode of the Empower Podcast, hosted by Emily Kennedy , where we discuss the good, the bad, and the ugly of those early days, how to define success for yourself, and how to blow up your career and reinvent it as something that serves you better.
You could say founding Minor Guard was the big bang that allowed me to live, to thrive. It was the start of building the life and legacy I want to have, on my own terms.?
But my post-pandemic struggle with major #health issues acted as the asteroid impact that wiped out that reality and acted as the catalyst for a new future and new life.
It became glaringly obvious that what had worked before was no longer working. And a new transformation was necessary to live the life that I wanted.
It was time for another blow-up.
I invested my time in creating a more sustainable future for myself. And I quickly realized I was not alone in my position — on the brink of burnout, blowing up my career, and redefining success.
I wrote Lets Go! to help accelerate women towards success and embrace transformation, particularly in this post-pandemic landscape.
So, tell me, are you ready to blow up your career?
Your career transformation could look like a total explosion or a small spark. And if you don’t know where to start, don’t stress.?

Some of the best, yet simplest advice I’ve heard on the topic comes from Emily Kennedy who has been recognized as one of Forbes 30 Under 30 Social Entrepreneurs and now serves as Minor Safety Lead on the Trust and Safety team at Patreon , after successfully founding Marinus Analytics, a Pittsburgh-based tech company creating solutions for social impact.
“Sometimes it can feel intimidating to make a big change, so I would say to start small. Start a new hobby or take some time for rest; do something that’s not related to your work at all. This has helped open my brain to new perspectives.”
Emily’s career blow-up really began before her career even started. She lit the match in college and dedicated herself to fighting human trafficking. She founded Marinus Analytics to use AI to assist law enforcement and non-profit organizations around the world in identifying, locating, and safeguarding victims. She and I even attended the trial against the founders of BackPage in 2018. Check out this photo we snapped with the BackPage CEOs in the background!
Whether your blow-up is a huge event or a small spark, early in your career or years into it, it’s important that you choose to take the reins and start living your life on your own terms.
So, is your transformation more along the lines of a detonating bomb or lighting a match?
Hit reply, and let me know! I tend to lean toward total explosions…
