Jungle Cruise: Cast Blunt and Johnson in everything
Disney's latest installment in their "turning attractions into movie franchises" is the world-famous?Jungle Cruise.
Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra,?Jungle Cruise?stars Dwayne Johnson as Frank, the charismatic steamboat captain, and Emily Blunt as Lily Houghton, a botanist. Lily sets the film off with an action-filled opening sequence as she gets her hands on an artifact that sets her off on her adventure to find "The Tears of the Moon" with brother McGregor.
Legend has it the tree has healing powers and according to Lily, it can change medicine as we know it. Lily's plan takes her to Brazil where she meets and hires Frank for a stunt and joke-filled voyage.
Frank acts as a tour guide to the siblings but deep down he has his own interest in the magical tree. What seems like an easy mission is complicated by Prince Joachim (played by Jesse Plemmons who gives a scene-stealing performance) who is also in search of the tree.

Jungle Cruise's?plot is centered on the tree race but the personalities of Blunt and Johnson give this film a voice. The chemistry is undeniable as you can tell these two are having the time of their lives cracking jokes to one another and trying to sell the audience this dense story. Mary Poppins and Maui carry the film.
Each is able to hold their own as they fight for their lives and battle each other. It almost feels like an odd couple meets Indiana Jones overflowing with charisma. I am surprised we haven't seen these two on-screen together until now. My eyes were glued to Blunt's perfect skin as her thick English accent sounded like music to my ears. They play their parts so effortlessly and shine throughout that it makes this fantasy feel real.
The plot does run very long and there was a twist no one was really expecting. The CGI animals were a little too much but Blunt and the Rock's interactions save it and make it feel almost normal. I think we would all agree to hop in a boat with these two as they take us on an adventure.
