Juneteenth's Crowning Achievement's Newsletter
Heeeeeeeeeeeey World! Happy Juneteenth, Day of Freedom!
I've celebrated Juneteenth in New York, San Francisco, and Houston, and I must say TULSA puts on one of the BEST JUNETEENTH celebrations, hands down!
Juneteenth is important because Black people are still experiencing racial injustice. It's evident in the laws that are passed and the policies that are created.?
Despite this, what I love about Juneteenth is that we always find something to celebrate. WE KNOW HOW TO DANCE IN THE RAIN! Our journey has never been easy, and we had and HAVE to march and fight for every inch of freedom, yet our story is one of resilience and progress.
We still don't have the promised 40 acres and a mule... but there's power in numbers... there's power in activism. We need to start showing up to vote and getting involved in our communities in crowds like the civil rights movement... like the million-man march...like you're waiting in line for the new Jordans.
Why do y'all think Oklahoma is a supermajority state? BECAUSE Y'ALL AREN'T GETTING OUT TO VOTE. Your VOTE matters... if it didn't, they wouldn't try so hard to suppress it!
Sometimes we just have to call a spade a spade. Anti-black, anti-female, anti-2S LGBTQIA, anti-ableism, anti-left hand (you get the point), and all forms of discrimination are equivalent to the same thing: ANTI-HUMANISM!
Sadly, a lot of ANTI happens within our own community. For true growth, we need UNITY!
Love ya'll!
