Funding
The Company of Biologists’ Sustainability Grants?from The Company of Biologists. As part of The Company of Biologists’ Sustainability Initiative (formerly known as our Sustainable Conferencing Initiative), we offer grants from our Fund for Innovations in Sustainable Conferencing to support innovative ideas that enable biologists to collaborate productively while minimising their impact on the environment – for example by: Reducing travel requirements; Increasing accessibility and inclusivity; Improving interaction opportunities for geographically diverse participants; Enhancing the ‘human’ experience of virtual meetings
Kenneth Jay Boss Fellowship in Invertebrate Zoology?from the Smithsonian Institute. Kenneth Jay Boss fellowships provide financial support enabling graduate students to conduct independent collections-based research in the Department of Invertebrate Zoology (IZ) at the National Museum of Natural History (NMNH). Open to currently enrolled graduate students engaged in collections-based research (e.g., systematics, phylogeny, biogeography, comparative morphology, species conservation). Applicants must contact an IZ research scientist to serve as the fellowship advisor well in advance of submitting their application. Deadline Septebmer 1, 2024
Kristian Fauchald Polychaete Research Fellowship?from the Smithsonian Institute. The Kristian Fauchald Polychaete Research Fellowships provide financial support to enable polychaete biologists from graduate students through senior researchers to conduct independent collections-based research in the Department of Invertebrate Zoology (IZ) at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History (NMNH). These funds enable Kristian’s legacy of encouraging and including polychaetologist from around the world in USNM Polychaete Collection research. Deadline October 1, 2024

The Biology and Ecosystems Expert Panel (BioEco Panel) is one of three panels providing scientific advice and expertise to GOOS on sustained observations of ocean variables across physics, biogeochemistry and marine life. We are seeking new members to join our Panel as EOV co-leads with expertise in the following fields: Zooplankton ecology; Hard coral reefs with links to the Global Coral Reef Monitoring Network; Continental shelf benthic invertebrate ecology; Macroalgal ecology; Sea turtle ecology; Seagrass observations and assessments; Marine Mammal ecology; Ocean Sound in relation to quantifying anthropogenic sound and pressures on marine fauna; Marine microbial ecology. Deadline July 14, 2024
Call for Scientific Panel Members. Expedition Science gets more funding into climate research and communicates your science in a way that inspires and engages everyone. From senior academics and policy makers to those just starting to become interested in the natural world. We link researchers and investors, finding money from foundations, businesses and private investors to get teams into the field and collect the data they need. We have a Science Panel for each of our four themes, Ocean, Polar, Forest and Mountain to assess every project, and we are seeking global individuals with diverse backgrounds, expertise, and perspectives to ensure a comprehensive and inclusive evaluation process. We want applications from all nationalities and science backgrounds, as long as your research is linked in some way to the environment or the climate.
