Successful DFAT of Roman Space Telescope at L3Harris in New York
Building upon the successful DFAT of the Roman WFOV Instrument at BAE Space & Mission Systems in Colorado, MSI DFAT has recently completed the continued acoustic qualification of the fully assembled Roman Space Telescope at L3Harris in New York. This accomplishment underscores the space industry's confidence in MSI DFAT's capabilities as a trusted partner in spacecraft acoustic testing.
We anticipate sharing more details soon. This testing event further solidifies our reputation for providing high-quality Direct Field Acoustic Tests (DFAT). No other company on Earth has qualified more than 200 spacecraft using the methods we pioneered in the '90s. Our 300-pound MP-21 and MP-150 speakers are specially coated to enhance durability and ruggedness, protecting your valuable investment from wear and tear. Each speaker is made with void-free Baltic birch, coated in catalyzed urethane, and the metal components are polyurethane powder-coated.

MSI DFAT participated in the 2024 Spacecraft and Launch Vehicle Dynamic Environments Workshop (SCLV) on June 4-5 in El Segundo, California, hosted by The Aerospace Corporation and sponsored by NASA JPL.
Dr. Alex Carrella, PhD, and Alan Merrick presented on "Implementation of a Numerical Model of a Direct Field Acoustic Noise System for Vibroacoustic Analysis" and "Direct Field Acoustic Testing Research and Development".
