Varlink's Meet the Manufacturer 2023

Last week, we had the pleasure of attending Meet the Manufacturer 2023. This year, Varlink hosted the event in York. Two great days of socialising and networking were had by all. It was great to meet and chat with many new and familiar faces.

The dinner setting, an old Victorian street inside York Castle Museum, was a real highlight of the event!

Celebrating 50 Years of GS1

This year marks fifty years of the barcode and GS1's internationally recognised standards. To celebrate this significant occasion, last month we released two blog posts paying homage to GS1 and the organisation's achievements throughout the years.

In 2023, GS1 standards are the most widely used system of standards across the globe, and the barcodes produced by GS1 are considered a crucial component in global trade. Over 2 million user companies form the ranks of GS1, with local member organisations found in 116 countries.

At KMsoft, we are proud to be a GS1 partner and offer GS1 approved solutions to our clients. Our Founder and CEO, Pete Thomson, released a statement on GS1's achievements and success:

New ￡2M Programme to Help Green Manufacturing via Digital Tech

A two-year programme that will accelerate the adoption of digital solutions to tackle the sustainability challenges faced by the UK’s manufacturing sector is to be delivered by Digital Catapult and High Value Manufacturing Catapult thanks to funding of ￡2 million from the Department of Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT). The programme will aim to drive improved resource and energy efficiency in manufacturing with the use of advanced digital technologies.

Supply Chain Productivity Decline Cannot be Solved by Tech Alone

New discouraging data findings have been shared by Gartner experts at the Gartner Supply Chain Symposium/Xpo EMEA. Thomas Pocock, Senior Director, Advisory in Gartner’s Supply Chain Practise, highlighted some key figures regarding the supply chain workforce, and noted that technology is not the only thing that needs to be reinvented in order to reverse the labour productivity decline of the supply chain.
