June Joy Ideas

June Joy Ideas

Well, June is here, and structure is falling by the waist side. That is why this email is a few days late.

We can get lazy during this time and forget about all the amazing things we can do to connect with people. Here is a list of ideas:?

Explore a New Park:

  • Walk in a new park that you have not explored yet. Have you been to St. Edwards Park? If not, try it out.

Austin Symphony Concerts in the Park:

  • Relax with free Sunday evening classical concerts at the Long Center.

Moonlight Paddle on Lady Bird Lake:

  • Experience the lake under the moonlight with a guided paddle tour—perfect for a unique nighttime adventure.

Indoor Rock Climbing at Austin Bouldering Project:

  • Challenge yourself with various climbing routes suitable for all skill levels in this large, state-of-the-art facility.

Juneteenth Culture Fest & Celebration of Freedom (June 14-16):

  • Head to Houston and participate in activities to celebrate this important holiday.

Celebrate National Donut Day (June 7):

  • Celebrate that Round Rock Donuts has been around since 1926 by grabbing a donut (or a dozen).

Ball Point Pen Day (June 10):

  • Pick up a pen and write to someone who did a tiny act of kindness for you without knowing. For me, it was two neighbors who showed up with a glass of scotch when our dog passed away. They had a drink with me even though they hated scotch (I have a rule that I will not drink by myself).

National Fudge Day (June 16):

  • Find a new recipe and make some fudge for a neighbor.

National Go Fishing Day (June 18):

  • Grab a pole and head to Bastrop State Park to catch some bass, catfish, or perch. Not into fishing? Grab a deck of cards and play Goldfish.

National Day of Yoga (June 21):

  • Ask a friend who does yoga where they go and if you can try it out.

Hug Holiday (June 29):

  • Give someone a hug and hold it for 6 (yes, 6) seconds. It will release oxytocin.

Want ideas of what you can do every day?? Action for Happiness has created this great calendar to help you focus on being joyful this June.
