June Edition: Top tips and the latest news!

Hi everyone – welcome back to another BECBC Shadow board newsletter! We’ve been busy with recruitment for some new members and working behind the scenes on some upcoming events which we’re delighted to share with you. Of course, we still wanted to use this newsletter to share some top tips, so read on to find out more!

In June we celebrated Volunteering Week (1st-7th June)! All of the Shadow Board members volunteer their time to BECBC, but did you know we also do additional volunteering too?! Volunteering is a great development opportunity for young people, so we want to encourage more of it in our community!

So here are 3 top tips to get started in volunteering:

1. Find a cause that is important to you – this will motivate you to want to support the cause.
2. Find a company or charity that can facilitate the volunteering for you.
3. Any amount helps – if you are busy, a one-off session is great and even an hour once a month giving back to your local area can be valuable – building it into your routine weekly/monthly etc can help you maintain it.

Earlier this month, our financial guru, Arran Pamphilon from Stan Sherlock Associates Ltd , held the first in his new series of financial webinars. This free event gave the audience some great tips for getting your finances in shape, and great news....! You can watch the recording here if you missed it!

We’ve also been busy planning our takeover Member Meeting in September, and we’re really excited to be planning a jam-packed agenda based around the theme of “Reflection”. Make sure you’re signed up. We’ll be announcing speakers soon!!
