This month we have a mix of strategic and tactical tips as well as a way to join a community that are interested in Digital strategy.

Build a list.

Many companies and individuals have focused solely on social media and ignored building their own list of prospects. While in B2B and using LinkedIn you can get away with it, in B2C you will all too often pay the price. Building your own list is always of value. Having your own direct line of communications with your future customers is always going to pay off.

One thing it also forces you to do is do some thinking which is a great exercise in itself.

You have to consider what is of value to your prospective clients and provide it so they will signup and give you their contact details.

So I would urge anyone to build their email list. Email is still the number one sales channel for any client we work with that are serious about e-commerce.

Video is prolific and brings with it its own problems. So a tactical tip.

One of the problems you can face especially with hi res cameras is that the files size is huge. I recently did a 30 min video and it was 1.8 GB. Loading that into any system takes time and it not necessary.

So I use handbrake. It works really well, is free to use and does exactly what it says.

That 1.8GB file was turned into 120MB in about 10 minutes and no loss of resolution.

Our own App

I can't describe the feeling I had when I got to see our App in the App Store a week ago. I guess it was pride in the team but also that we have taken the step.

My son said to me that it is probably like in the old days when having a website was an achievement.

So we now have an App in the App store and Google Play. It is early days and we are rolling it out slowly to clients. But you are welcome to join us. It is free and when you join you will get to join a group of like minded business owners and managers. It is a sort of our own Instagram App but as you will see no fake profiles and real business people.
