?? 3 Ideas?

I. ???What Will Peak Season Look Like?

U.S. containerized import volumes have been on the rise for two consecutive months, with a notable?3.8% growth from April to May 2023. However, predictions for the approaching summer months are varied.

The National Retail Federation expects the upward trend in import volumes to carry on through early Q3, albeit remaining below the peak levels we saw in 2022. Others forecast that volumes may level out or possibly decline in the latter half of the year.

As large retailers start depleting their stockpile from last year, we anticipate a return to normal seasonality with import volumes closely aligning with 2019 levels. Here's how you can effectively prepare:

  • Stay on top of your inventory levels and lead times. We're here to provide ongoing updates on global supply chain dynamics to help you navigate the forthcoming peak season.
  • Truck demand is set to rise, but we expect our drayage service to be available nationwide and ready. We expect truck availability during the peak season to be stable.
  • Keep an eye on the final ruling from?the FMC on detention and demurrage. It could be a game changer for all of us!

And for those of us who are always looking on the bright side, we've got some handy tips to prepare for a more typical peak season.

  • Start planning early:?Peak shipping season typically starts late summer and runs through October. Starting early will give you time to secure capacity, negotiate rates, and develop a plan of attack in case of delays or disruptions.
  • Work with a reliable dray partner:?Not all drayage companies are created equal. You've done your research because ContainerPort Group has a proven track record of?reliability and service you can trust. Our high-5's will always be better than this.
