June E-News: Celebrating over $8.1M in grant awards

On June 21, the GOCO board awarded $8,146,774 in grants for land conservation, outdoor recreation, and stewardship projects. Through our base programs, $6,806,774 in grants will help protect over 1,800 acres of land, build or upgrade six parks and recreation facilities, support long-term planning, and hire new staff, among other impacts.

In addition, Colorado Parks and Wildlife was awarded $150,000 through the Director’s Innovation Fund which supports unique projects from across the agency. These efforts will help recover endangered black-footed ferrets, explore the use of drones for wildlife counting in state parks, build a new dark-sky viewing amphitheater, achieve Leave No Trace certification to support stewardship, and more.

Lastly, Keep It Colorado will re-grant $840,000 in GOCO funds through its Transaction Cost Assistance Program to help landowners cover costs associated with conservation easements. This round, 15 projects will permanently protect 13,000 acres of working ranches, wetlands, water rights, and wildlife corridors.

Now that’s some great news! Congratulations to all partners. Check out all the funded projects here and read on for upcoming funding opportunities, hot jobs, and more.
