Emphasising privacy, Apple showcased capabilities that leverage user data to enhance tasks through a voice assistant. Additionally, Apple has forged a partnership with OpenAI, integrating ChatGPT for advanced functions like handling complex queries and composing messages, areas where Apple’s native AI capabilities currently fall short.?

Meet Astra: Google’s AI Agent

Google has unveiled “Astra,” its first all-purpose AI agent, marking a significant step in the company’s AI advancements. As competition with OpenAI intensifies, Astra integrates into daily life, offering capabilities from personal assistance to complex problem-solving. This move highlights Google’s commitment to making AI accessible and useful for consumers, shifting focus from technical applications to enhancing everyday experiences. With Astra, Google aims to redefine user interaction with technology, providing a versatile and intelligent assistant for efficient functionality.?

European AI office?

The European AI Office, part of the European Commission, will serve as the central hub for AI expertise and governance across the EU. Its main mission is to promote trustworthy AI while mitigating risks. By implementing the AI Act, it aims to protect public health, safety, and fundamental rights, while providing regulatory clarity for businesses. The office will enforce regulations on general-purpose AI models, conduct evaluations, request information, and impose sanctions as needed. Additionally, it will foster an innovative ecosystem for trustworthy AI, ensuring Europe maintains a strategic and effective international approach, solidifying its role as a global leader in AI governance.??

Highlights from DataComms Awards

An event full of bright minds, data insights, and awards – we call that a success. It was a pleasure to attend DataComms Live, a conference, and the DataComms awards ceremony held in the evening at the May Fair Hotel, London, organised by Communicate magazine . We joined insightful sessions and celebrated communication excellence.??

DataComms Awards Ceremony?

The Ruepoint team has done incredibly well, and it’s an honor to announce that we won awards in all four categories we entered. Last night, at the official ceremony, our COO and Co-founder, Raina Lazarova , proudly received the awards on behalf of our team.??

We were recognised for our work with Allianz in the ‘Best Media Coverage Impact Assessment’ category and the ‘Best Data Insight from an Integrated Campaign’ category. Additionally, our collaboration with PwC Ireland earned us awards in the ‘Best Data Insight from a Communications Campaign (One-Off)’ category and the ‘Best Data-Driven Competitive Intelligence’ category.??

The conference focused on the insight and analysis of data, data use, and visualisation in corporate communications. The agenda was packed with insightful panel discussions and networking opportunities, exploring how data can be used to inform, persuade, and engage audiences.??

Predicting, measuring and monetising brand asset value????

Elspeth Cheung, Director of Brand Commercialisation at Landor, shared insights on measuring and validating the financial performance of investments in a company’s most valuable intangible asset – its brand. She explained how predicting, measuring, and monetising the impact of a brand can solidify brand strategy. Elspeth highlighted how Landor’s proprietary BAV methodology does just that.??

Data protection: Beyond the headlines??

Dave Murphy, Head of Media at the ICO, shared how the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) makes data protection engaging. The ICO oversees crucial regulations like the Data Protection Act, GDPR, and the Freedom of Information Act. Murphy highlighted creative campaigns linking ICO’s work to public figures like David Beckham, Eurovision, and Taylor Swift, and covered high-profile data breaches. He also discussed impactful campaigns on data aspects of domestic abuse and period and fertility apps, including the award-winning “Help Gran Stop Spam” campaign. Murphy’s insights demonstrated innovative ways to capture audience interest in data protection.??

The art of visual storytelling with data??

Valentina D’Efilippo, an award-winning designer, creative director, and author, emphasised that data visualisation goes beyond bar charts and graphs. It’s about creating meaningful experiences that enhance knowledge. In an age of short attention spans, design must bring data to life in unique ways. Valentina shared her approach to using data design to foster understanding, connectivity, compassion, and action. She also provided principles and tips to elevate the presentation and communication of data-driven insights, inspiring attendees to apply these techniques in their work.?

Another #PRAwards24 has come and gone, leaving us inspired and proud. We were thrilled to participate in The Awards for Excellence in Public Relations 2024, held at the Radisson Blu Royal Hotel in Dublin. This prestigious event, jointly presented by the Public Relations Consultants Association ( PRCA ) Ireland and the Public Relations Institute of Ireland (PRII), showcased the finest work in the public relations and communications field. Our team, including Laura Gunnery , Nicola Baird , and Susan Ryan , was there to celebrate the incredible talent and hard work that drives our industry forward.?

As proud sponsors of the Best Issues-Led Campaign category, we were honored to have Laura Gunnery present the award to Drury for the Dublin Rape Crisis Centre for their outstanding campaign 'We-Consent'.?

The ceremony was excellently hosted by PRCA Chairperson Martina Quinn and PRII President David G., whose opening address set a perfect tone for the evening.? ?

The event was a celebration of not just the winners but all the nominees whose work exemplifies the highest standards of public relations and communications.
