??Freight Market Returning to Normal?
According to Werner CEO Derek Leathers, the trucking industry's recession, caused by excess capacity, might be nearing an end. Retailers, having overcome post-pandemic inventory issues, are returning to regular restocking practices, which will boost demand for trucking, especially in the coming fall season. Additionally, a more stable bidding process this year, compared to the volatile one in 2023, suggests both shippers and carriers recognize the market is shifting toward normalcy.
Our Chief Revenue Officer, Sean McGillicuddy, comments, "Brokers who have seen market ups and downs are heavily focused on making process improvements and efficiencies during the current market lull. If you've survived the last year of the freight market, you're in good shape. Don't panic; stay focused on finding efficiencies, building your carrier network, and compiling data. I don't think the market will feel "normal" until Q2 of 2025, but there are many brokers thriving, and I believe we have already seen the worst of it."
