?Understanding the Risk of Hiring Someone with an EAD Based on Their Spouse's Employment
Our corporate clients often ask about the intricacies of hiring employees with an Employment Authorization Document (EAD), especially when their work authorization is tied to their spouse's employment. First and foremost, when a candidate presents valid documents demonstrating they are authorized to work, employers are generally required to accept those documents. Discriminating based on future expiration dates or potential termination of employment authorization could be considered an unfair immigration-related employment practice.
However, there are certain considerations?associated with EADs tied to a spouse's employment. Read More!
?Considering Sponsoring Your Parents for a Green Card?
There are a few different options and different considerations for each. Some things to consider:
If your parents are in the U.S. and were properly inspected and admitted, they may have the option of applying for a green card from here within the U.S. But remember that if they do, they won't be able to leave the U.S. until the green card is approved, or until they receive the advance parole document. If they are not in the U.S. and you file an I-130 petition and then they go the consular processing route, will they be able to enter the U.S. while that's all in process to visit? (Here's a hint: It depends!) For more detail about these considerations, check out the video! Watch Now!

When I mention this to clients, they initially think "of course I didn't register to vote!" and then they remember maybe saying yes when the person at the DMV asks if they would like to register to vote. That's a problem!
