Deals

  • Endomag, A Hologic Company is set to be acquired by Hologic, Inc. Inc – a NASDAQ-quoted firm based in Marlborough, Massachusetts – for $310 million. Endomag develops and sells breast surgery localisation and lymphatic tracing technologies.
  • Camlab Ltd Ltd is to be acquired by Calibre Scientific for an undisclosed sum
  • Our news partner Business Weekly newspaper believes ソフトバンク is in talks to buy another hi-tech business with Cambridge interests – Graphcore . Sale talks have been ongoing for months, and a sale could go through by the summer, Business Weekly understands.
  • Raspberry Pi is floating on the Main Market of the London Stock Exchange – with a value of the? IPO? estimated to be around £500m. Listen to our interview with Raspberry Pi CEO Eben Upton from Episode 10.
  • IQGeo , the listed geospatial software solutions firm, is set to be acquired by KKR in a private equity deal valued at £333 million.
  • Martlet is under new management. EMV Capital plc , a VC investor specialising in high-growth DeepTech and Life Sciences companies has acquired Martlet Capital’s operational business.

  • KPMG released their Private Enterprise Venture Pulse report. Nearly £335 million ($423m) of VC cash was invested in businesses across East Anglia in Q1 2024, representing 24 deals completed across Cambridge, Essex, Suffolk and Norfolk according to data compiled by PitchBook . The largest raise came from Cambridge-based drug discovery company Apollo Therapeutics ($260m), which was ranked one of the top 10 largest financings in Europe during the quarter. Other stand out deals included Cambridge Mechatronics Ltd Limited ($40m), £25.2m for Mission Therapeutics and a £6.7m raise for Tagomics , the first company to occupy the new Illumina Ventures Labs space in Cambridge.
  • The Cambridge tech ecosystem has a value of $191 billion, representing 18 per cent of the entire UK’s tech ecosystem and more than Spain and Italy combined, according to new analysis by Dealroom.co for Founders at the University of Cambridge .
