Commemorating the Thrice Blessed Aphrem I (1957+) and the Thrice Blessed Yacoub III (1980+) Syrian Orthodox Patriarchs of Antioch - May their supplications be with us. Amen.
Deriving from The LIGHT volume 18 issue 34 of 23rd June 2013 researched, and edited by V. Rev. Rev. Fr. Boutros Touma Issa of St. Ephraim Syrian Orthodox Church Perth, I quote:
The annual commemoration:
In June each year, deriving from the contemporary Holy Church’s history, the Holy Church commemorates two universal patriarchs, who served the Holy Church with whatever strength patience, generosity, and benevolence they had.? Thus the ecclesiastical history commemorates their names in the highest of places, bringing to us all the beauty of their great lives.? These two Universal Patriarchs left behind several manuscripts that discussed, deliberated and debated diverse issues in relation to the Syriac (Aramaic) language, the literature, the ecclesiastical history, in addition to their homilies and their ongoing other directives.? These two Universal Patriarchs of Antioch are:
The Thrice Blessed Mor Ignatius Aphrem I, who departed this earthly life on 23rd June 1957 in Homs, Syria.? His blessed body was entombed in Our Lady Virgin Mary’s Cathedral known as ‘Emo Dzonoro’ Cathedral in Homs.
The Thrice Blessed Mor Yacoub III, who departed this earthly life on 25th June 1980 in Damascus – Syria, his body was entombed at the Cathedral of St. George – Damascus – Syria.? [Moved to Ma’arat Sednaya on the 36th anniversary of the Thrice Blessed Eternal sleep during the reign of H.H.Moran Mor Ignatius Aphrem II, Patriarch of Antioch and the Supreme Head of the Universal Syriac Orthodox Church.]
Indeed, we commemorate these distinguished Patriarchs in line with the saying of St. Paul:
?Remember those who are your leaders, those who have spoken the word of God to you; mark the completeness of their works and imitate their faith (Hebrews 13:7).
May Their supplications and prayers be with all of us. Amen.

Each year, in June, and St. Ephraim Syrian Orthodox Church, Perth, we commemorate the two great Patriarchs with special set up and prayer, also, the famous Syriac Bread that used to be baked by Bathqyomo Marine Khoury-Issa (May God repose her soul). Here are some images from these commemorations:
As indicated in the video published in 2020 Commemorations in June in which we talked about the move of the entombed body of the Thrice Blessed Yacoub III (1980+) from St. George's Cathedral, Damascus to the Patriarchs Burial place at St. Ephraim Monastery, Ma'arat Sednaya:
