BIG ADVICE

POST IDEA: IN THE NEWS

How to stay relevant? Be relevant!

It can be difficult to think of new things to say all of the time but why invent new topics when the world is giving you them for free?

Search for news relevant to your industry - AI tools disrupting your business? A new law that could challenge the way you find clients? There’s a never-ending supply of interesting conversation starters relevant not only to you… but as importantly, to your followers.

The next time you are stuck for a post, simply frame this news as a question:

‘I’ve seen a lot on my timeline this week about xxx, what are your thoughts?’

Or

‘I read this last night xxxxx - it looks to me as though [insert opinion here]’

Content doesn’t need to be complicated - have an opinion and start a conversation.?

BIG QUESTION

CAN YOU SAY IT IN A SENTENCE?

When people ask what you do, can you tell them in a way they’ll remember? Or in a way that is relevant to them and their needs?

When we describe what we do, we often miss a crucial piece of information.

People are not so much interested in what YOU do, as what that will do for THEM.

?When I started?Trevisan, I used to waffle on about my background first. Who cares (except my mum)?

?Noone, people wanted to know what I do and how it can help them increase their LinkedIn visibility and use the platform more effectively. My pitch is now a succinct 2 line summary explaining just that.

Which of these examples is more effective?

‘I am a former lawyer and founder of Trevisan who teaches people how to use their LinkedIn effectively.’

Vs

‘I help people 5x their visibility and leverage LinkedIn for increased revenue employing a bespoke LinkedIn strategy.

Notice how we lead with the part others are interested in - what’s in it for them.

In both cases, we also kept our pitch short and punchy! No paragraph pitch.

It’s ok to have more detail but you should also be clear enough on the value you add that you can communicate it in a single sentence if you need to.

Try it yourself - ask yourself what’s in it for your clients and communicate the purpose of your business in a single sentence.??

BIG IDEA

"Relevance is the heartbeat of any thriving business. It's not enough to simply exist; you must understand the pulse of your audience, anticipate their needs, and deliver value that resonates with them. Embrace the power of relevance, and your business will remain at the forefront of minds and markets."

Richard Branson
