Last week, Meta took most of the centre stage on digital updates. They have now expanded the subscriptions, Meta Verified to India and soon roll out in Brazil. Elon Musk has some good news for Twitter creators(but only if you are on Twitter Blue) and LinkedIn has a new B2B report with DM for company pages here with us.

Meta

Starting off, back here at home, a Kenyan court ruled that Meta is the primary employer of content moderators suing the social media giant and its content review partner in Africa, Sama, for unlawful dismissal.

1. Instagram is building a Twitter competitor looks like the app could be called Threads according to an article by the Verge. According to the article, Meta is in talks with some celebrities for them to be early users. Here is how the app looks like

2. Instagram is currently developing a new AI chat option in DM that would enable you to ask questions about an AI system within any chat thread.

3. Meta announces WhatsApp Channels —a private way to follow people and organizations that matter to you, right within WhatsApp. They are first rolling out in Singapore and Colombia and will roll out to everyone this year.

Twitter

4. Twitter is testing new restrictions on who can send DMs in the app, with only Twitter Blue users set to be allowed to send DM requests to users who don’t follow them. But why Elon?

5. Twitter Blue subscribers now have up to 1 hour to edit their Tweets and you might soon be able to hide your Twitter Likes and make them private

Also, X/Twitter will start paying creators for ads served in their replies and will provide email addresses of subscribers (who opt-in) to content creators so that creators are able to leave Twitter easily & take their subscribers where they want Elon Musk

6. TikTok Academy adds new courses to its course that they introduced in November 2022. Some of the new courses include:

?? Celebrating Diverse Cultures on TikTok

?? Developing Always-Engaged Strategies

?? Creative Codes

8. Also, TikTok announced Open Applications on the TikTok Creator Marketplace a new campaign type allowing advertisers to post the details of upcoming campaigns to TikTok Creator Marketplace for creators to proactively apply.

According to the TikTok blog, each creator application includes a short pitch or concept for the brand campaign, examples of relevant TikTok videos they've created, contact information, and their proposed fee. This will revolutionize brands and creator collaboration and relationship

9. Linkedin is testing Al Copy Suggestions to help you create text and headlines for ad creatives using data from your LinkedIn Page. Also, LinkedIn is rolling out In-stream video ads on long-form video content to help marketers scale their campaign reach and connect with professional audiences across our network of publishers. 10. Love to write? WordPress has a new AI tool called Jetpack AI Assistant, a plug-in that will write blog posts for you

Will #AI fire you? A San Francisco-based copywriter Olivia Lipkin was fired after bosses started calling her "ChatGPT" Olivia was being asked tasks by her managers on Slack as "Olivia/ChatGPT." As of April, she was fired in place of ChatGPT. Read more here
