Jumpstarting Your WELLNESS LIFESTYLE in the Post Covid Age... Part I

Wellness is a daily choice and the priority that you place on it directs the course of your destiny.

Not my words but Aristotle, “Health is a matter of Choice and not a matter of Chance.”

More importantly Wellness is a mindset as a life philosophy that is manifested through the body as the House of Energy, but the surging impetus is the willful mind that is strongly determined to seek the optimal place of its potential.

My Wellness Mindset is deeply influenced by the Taoists whose intuitive contemplative approach not only creates the basis of vigorous health but the essence of sustainable Longevity….not only to grow old ….but to grow old with an abundant quality of life till the day you pass away.

Wellness is so predetermined by your state of your mind and that is precisely why today as a society we have never been unhealthier.

Lao Tzu said,

“If you are depressed you are living in the past.

If you are anxious you are living in the future.

If you are at peace you are living in the present.”?

When the great tsunami of Covid came and overwhelmed the entire world I remembered telling my wife “This has nothing to do with us.”

A bold statement but backed up with a lifetime of Wellness practices that layer by layer formed a rock-solid natural immunity. Our task was to be kind, patience and considerate of others whom this would greatly impact……and to remember we are always the “Adults in the Room.”

In the many thousands of people that I have personally interacted ( somewhere between 6,000-7,000) with during the previous two plus years I have exhibited strength and understanding while most patiently waiting for the Covid Age to pass and the Post Covid Age to begin.

It is truly mystifying to observe so many individuals that have clung to the Culture of Unwellness that Covid has deeply penetrated into American Society.

Still more astonishing how they believe that all these unnatural and non-holistic behaviors are some kind of new normal manner that society is going to proceed into the future.

Most amusing is their strident sanctimony in which their false beliefs have become in their minds universal truths…..that all must obey with precise precision or subject to their negative judgement

Yet, these people are the ones that are constantly ill, with their non-stop chatter about doctors, vaccines, sickness and death which they have immersed themselves not in the elements that create longevity but a pervasive mental imbalance ….not my words…. but several thousand years of experienced advice from philosophers that circle the planet……such reductionist thinking has never worked

….so why here in 2022 is there going to be an exception?

One must wonder…what is lacking in these folks so much they reject nature and instead embrace a belief that artificial chemicals are the basis of health?

So, if your consciousness has not advanced to the Post Covid Age then this article is not going to be of much assistance.

…..Step #1 is moving forward in accepting this as a statement of reality….the Pandemic is Over!

Wellness Role Models

Back in the day I remember my mom moving the chairs in our living room and exercising with Debbie Drake or Jack LaLanne.

In the 1960’s these two individuals were pioneers in the Wellness Movement. My mother was so excited when Debbie Drake came to Jordan Marsh to have a book signing. Debbie’s book spoke about both exercise and nutrition….kind of cutting edge at a time where most people were smoking cigarettes and possessed very little knowledge about their bodies and how they were essential instruments that ?created wellness. Debbie and Jack’s shows influenced millions of people who were home exercisers which became the thrust to create health clubs and gyms.

Sixty years later we really do not have anyone in our society that has that level of daily influence. Unfortunately, health and beauty are now Big Business as we are inundated with an excess of information that is focused on selling product but not on developing any type of Wellness Culture.

In the commercialization of Wellness so much of relational connection has been removed. What remains is a plethora of health facilities that present us with the opportunity but only ourselves to provide the motivation for there are really no Health Celebrities today to inspire us onward.

Instead of these positive Wellness Role Models we have the fake science of Big Pharma and individuals like Dr. Fauci that are the antithesis of what health is all about.

Their misinformation has created much confusion as they have nothing to do with advancing Wellness but in controlling people in the pursuit of making them perpetual customers....just follow the money as it tells the entire story far better than anyone can. ??

Step #2 is avoiding or completely curtailing all negative interactions for internal energy is a two way Entropic Process ….stimuli that are Deposits that make you stronger and Withdrawals that?deplete your vital reserves.

The math is simple …make many Deposits and few Withdrawals.

Presence of Mind……..its all in your head?????

Many people would think the first thing to talk about in Wellness is diet and exercise. Twenty years ago, this would be correct. The world we live in today is extremely stressful and the coping mechanisms people have are far less than my grandparents.

When I look at the great Humanistic Psychologists of the twentieth century their upbringing were exactly like mine. These enriched ethnic cultures of large extended families deeply interactive in their communities who held tightly to their language, customs and religion produced individuals with toolboxes filled with abilities, skills and a holistic perspective of people, society, and the world.

At this late mid-point of my life, it is most apparent that we are different people than younger generations or those that have shed these traditional wrappings which are the collective wisdom of five thousand years of civilization.

All one must see is the incidents of nervous anxiety in our generation which is in the single digits and that of Gen Z that is in the high eighty percentile. For us coming upward in our path of social mobility our resilience was an unnoticeable almost invisible part of our personality. This resilience was a shared experience in your extended family and community. Adversity and its trauma were not a brick wall that immobilizes you but a divide in the road in which we created another solution to jump over the obstacle.

So what is Mental Wellness ?

The Taoist offer the best summary. It is the person that has the Correct View which is a balanced objective perception that is attached to your intuition that without too much rational interference has clarity that creates Awareness.

One of the challenges I see especially today in young people is their absence of Congruency….their self-picture does not match the actual reality.

The place where this pathology is further magnified is by the media industry that just like Big Pharma promotes messages of unhealthy behavior and derides holistic wellness.

Once a person would have the Correct View, they would then have the foundation to possess the Correct Intention. In the Taoist model you can never go to Square #2 without a mastery of Square #1.

Good Mental health is a progressive cumulative process. So, people that do not have an accurate conception of reality cannot possess the correct information to have the appropriate motivation.

It is really just that simple.???

With these functional elements of your selfhood, you then perform the Correct Action. I believe the great challenge of most people is not that they do not want to do the right thing, but they do not even know what the right thing is.

In this operative model the individual has to be Right Being- Right Knowing which makes them capable of Right Doing.

Far too many people I meet do not know the difference between right from wrong. In that manner it is not a willful act to create harm but an ignorance to even knowing that their actions produced harm. ?

How does an individual create the environment to produce the conditions for Mental Wellness?

Garbage in- Garbage out …..you need to ingest less toxic content from the media and toxic people in your life.

Once you have cleansed yourself what emerges in the space of that new silence is a Karos Moment of Self Actualization…..you come in contact with the “Real You”.

Students that I have mentored sudden have this brightness in their eyes …..The Lights are on....once consciousness emerges it is an awakening.....reality changes and once what was acceptable is amplified to a new much higher level of expectation

It is a moment of true liberation as your transformation empowers a deeper understanding not only of yourself but of everything.

Yet it takes courage, and it is a lot of work but the sweet fruits of that journey pays a lifetime of dividends. ?Suddenly you will find you see the best in others and are more patient, introspective, a good listener that is less reactive and in the balancing of this aspects of Self ….much healthier.

This transcendency is expansively powerful as it with time and layers of positive experience produce insightful wisdom that can predictively look far into the future. This strategic thinking becomes the framework of your organizing principle.

The Taoist would describe this .. “as Balance that is harmonious in the manner that it harmonizes all elements of you into a concerted unity.”

Once you have experienced this inner serenity the present moment is filled with much beauty, and you manifest the many dimensions of love that in the destiny is and has always been the intention of your existence.

Step # 3 is investing in yourself through a process of silence, reflection and a removal from the flow of the outside world’s influence. Define yourself in the gifts that are yours and share them with others as we all are a part of a much greater solution that begins in a willful choice to push back against the toxic energy that has come to define the messaging of our society.

Stop lending your approval ….be unafraid to own what is yours.

This is your Authentic Self in all its optimal Wellness
