1. Networking Group Benefits

I've been a member of a BNI (Business Network International) group since 2008, and I'm a big believer in the power of professional networking groups. Here’s why:

  • Join a Professional Networking Group

Joining a professional networking group can be a game-changer for your business. If you can’t get into an established group like BNI, start your own! The concept is simple but powerful: a single seat per profession. In our BNI chapter, we have a listing agent, a buyer's agent, a commercial agent, and a business broker. This exclusivity ensures that each member benefits from unique referrals.

Networking groups are about building relationships with other businesses that want to grow just like you. Think about all the businesses that can refer clients to you: CPAs, financial planners, plumbers, HVAC technicians, stagers, mortgage brokers, and more. Consistency is key – we meet once a week, and it's a commitment worth making.

  • Create Your Own Networking Opportunities

If joining an existing group isn’t an option, create your own networking opportunities. Gather local business owners for a meeting and establish your own group. Make sure to keep it structured and focused on generating genuine referrals, not just leads. Track your interactions and build deeper connections through one-on-one meetings outside the group.

  • Utilize Referral Tools

One tool I use to spread the word about my vendors is my "I’ve Got a Guy (or Gal)" card. This is a send-out card where I promote my vendors to my clients, one at a time. It keeps me top of mind and builds trust with my clients. They know they can count on me to recommend reliable professionals.


2. Partner with Local Businesses

Partnering with local businesses is another excellent way to boost your visibility and credibility. Here’s how you can do it:

  • Conduct Interviews

Start a YouTube channel and interview local business owners. It’s free and incredibly effective. Introduce them to your audience, discuss their specialties, and share the video widely. This not only promotes the businesses but also builds your reputation as a well-connected realtor.

  • Leverage Technology

With today’s tech tools, creating professional-looking videos is easier than ever. Use apps like CapCut or consider hiring a VA to handle administrative tasks. This frees up your time to focus on what you do best – selling homes and building relationships. Equip yourself with basic tools like a tripod that follows your face, a lavalier mic, and a good camera or phone. These tools will help you produce high-quality content that showcases your expertise and connections.

Stay organized. Use a CRM system to keep track of your clients and follow up regularly. Plan your schedule in advance and stick to it as much as possible. This helps you stay on top of your tasks and ensures nothing falls through the cracks.

  • Create Playlists

Organize your videos into playlists on your YouTube channel. For example, create playlists for different types of businesses or areas. This makes it easier for viewers to find and watch the content they're interested in.

  • Partner with Other Agents

Find a reliable partner to share the workload. Maybe one of you prefers working with buyers and the other with sellers. Or you could have a vacation buddy who covers for you when you’re away. Set clear expectations and treat it like a business arrangement.


3. Hosting Workshops

Workshops are a fantastic way to engage with your community and demonstrate your expertise. Here’s how to make them work for you:

  • Educational Events

Host workshops on topics that are relevant to your audience. For example, invite a mortgage lender to talk about current interest rates and financing options. Or bring in a financial planner to discuss the benefits of trusts. These events position you as a knowledgeable resource and attract potential clients.

  • Interactive Sessions

Make your workshops interactive and engaging. Use surveys on Facebook and Instagram to find out what topics your audience is interested in. This ensures your workshops are relevant and well-attended.

  • Collaborate with Experts

Partner with local experts to co-host workshops. This not only provides valuable content but also expands your network and audience. Collaborate with mortgage lenders, financial planners, home inspectors, and other professionals who can offer valuable insights.
