Sometimes you need to plan relentlessly, and sometimes you just need to take a leap of faith and get started.....
I started Breckland Orchard 15 years ago, leaving a corporate job with Mars to enter the unknown world of being a drink start up. It was a leap of faith to be sure, 2009 was in the middle of a recession and I had a one and three year old at the time. BUT....I am really glad I took that decision. I had a 'kind of' plan, but had I thought it all through in micro detail, I might never have taken the call to start.
And this week I decided to get back into running. I'm reasonably fit, and probably if I thought about it I should have done a running programme like Couch to 5k...instead I just decided to start. I figured what was the worst that could happen....I could just stop when it didn't feel right.
I managed 5km on my first run, 6km on my second. Yesterday I decided to go a bit further...and managed 7.5km. I'm not mega fast, but I can always work on the pace later.
Most owners of small businesses would say their gut feel, and trusting what feels right is the most important barometer. Sometimes you just need to start to see what is possible.

PS - My actual shoes....I take a size 4 and have child sized feet! Sometimes that's useful as children's shoes don't have VAT[!]
