Facebook has been facing a lot of public pressure around the current ad boycott linked to #stophateforprofit campaign.
Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced that they would be adding labels to Politicians content that breaks the rules. However, this move hasn't been satisfactory enough for brands in addressing hate speech as more brands have joined the Facebook ads boycott.
The social media network has also taken action against a movement in the US known as the 'Boogaloo' movement by removing 220 Facebook accounts, 95 Instagram accounts, 28 Pages and 106 groups directly tied to the group.
At the end of June we also saw Facebook launch a new education campaign to help people detect fake news. Bottom line: Don't share if you're not sure.
In addition to this, there has been a Facebook Algorithm update that will drive more emphasis on news content from credible and informative news websites with original reporting and transparent authorship.
