?? It's the new year and you may be thinking about changing roles, but read this wonderful research which will help you better choose the month and day to apply for a job!
?? January is typically known as a boom for job postings but new data shows different story after COVID-19 has left its mark on the hiring landscape, shifting hiring peaks further into the year.
?? July sees the most movement in the hiring process with 25% of assessment completions happening within the month.
?? Job seekers more likely to see increased opportunities and move forward in the hiring process during July and August. However, with that opportunity comes potential competition.
As a recruiter, the most relaxing quarter comes just in time for the holidays, but summer may not give them the summer break they have in mind, according to a new interesting research published by Cangrade using data from their proprietary Pre-Hire Assessment completion data ?? from 2021-2023 across industries.
?July is the new January
Researchers noticed that January is the fourth lowest in assessment completions, tied with May, but higher than March and all of Q4. October comes in last with just 1% of assessments being completed within the month.?
?? Job seekers more likely to see increased opportunities and move forward in the hiring process during July and August.
?Tuesday is the best time to apply for jobs
Researchers reviewed the timing of assessment completions on average, and they established that Tuesday is the best time to apply for jobs.
Their analysis shows that Tuesday is the highest volume day for assessment completions with 25% of total completions, followed by Thursday, reinforcing that Tuesday is a common job application day.
They also discovered that applicants are 45% more likely to finish their assessment on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday than they are on a Saturday. They’re 72% less likely to complete it on a Sunday than on a Tuesday.
Researchers found also that Thursday is the highest volume day for assessment completions, followed by Friday. This results reinforces the well-known, pre-Covid stat, that Tuesday is a common job application day !
??Finally researchers provide 3 tips each for recruiters and jobseekers:

For recruiters:
?? Assign your applicants their pre-hire assessment early in the week to maximize the likelihood of completion and decrease time-to-hire
??Make the most of slow winter hiring months by improving hiring efficiency and growing your talent pool ahead of July and August
?? Brace yourself for an early summer hiring spree
For jobseekers:
?? Consider job searching mid-year rather than in January if you can to maximize your number of opportunities
?? Be prepared for more job competition in July
?? Expect the slowest hiring season to come at the end of the year

This interesting research proves that even recruitment trends have evolved since 2019 and post-Covid. Indeed, remote and hybrid working not only has an impact on the way people come to the office, but also on the recruitment stages. Knowing data about the best month and days to apply for a job is crucial for jobseekers. Sending your assessment early in the week will speed up your hiring process and increase your completion rates.

10 个月Interesting report from Cangrade. It would be interesting to see what share of the total recruitment market the business has, and whether their customers are reflective of the wider market. I’ve tracked vacancies in the UK market across leading recruitment sites and validated the data against the UK government”s published data and I don’t see a correlation this side of the pond. https://www.ons.gov.uk/employmentandlabourmarket/peopleinwork/employmentandemployeetypes/bulletins/jobsandvacanciesintheuk/december2023

10 个月With regard to hirings and postings. Will be interesting to see how this plays out. I work with a lot of companies (specifically their L&D). A consistent theme through year end budgeting was a reduction/freezing in FTEs for budgets and major cuts in L&D.

10 个月Timing is essential when it comes to labor demand. The nature of recruitment (employment contract) can be a factor here — it would be interesting to map that against the cyclical nature of market — it would spike prior to Q4 (a personal hunch ??) before year end— Which makes talent development take place during low demand times a good move for jobseekers’ considerations
