This year, in celebration of Hangley Aronchick's 30th anniversary, we are running two social media campaigns, 30 Years of Impact and 30 Acts of Service.
30 Years of Impact
In an ongoing reflection on meaningful cases for our firm and the greater community, our 30 Years of Impact campaign next recalls the 2022 Third Circuit ruling in favor of the Delaware River Basin Commission's fracking ban.
Shareholders Steven Miano , Robert Wiygul and Pete Keays represented Democratic Pennsylvania state senators and Bucks and Montgomery counties in a suit brought by several Republican state senators, the state Senate Republican Caucus, and four municipalities who sought to overturn the DRBC ban on fracking in the Delaware River Basin. Ultimately, the court agreed that the case must be dismissed, finding that “the state senators and Republican Caucus lack standing because the legislative injuries they allege affect the state legislature as a whole.” The judges also explained that the four municipalities in the case “lack standing because the economic injuries they allege are ‘conjectural’ and ‘hypothetical’ rather than ‘actual and imminent.'" Read more about the case here.
30 Acts of Service
We also celebrate 30 years of giving back to the community. We are committed to supporting causes that are important to us, through pro bono work, volunteerism, and board service.
This month, we recognize shareholder and Litigation Department Chair John Summers and his board service to the Education Law Center-PA , a nonprofit whose mission is to ensure access to a quality public education for all children in Pennsylvania. John has served as a board member since 2023.
We also recognize shareholder Robert Wiygul and his board service for the Public Interest Law Center, a nonprofit that uses high-impact legal strategies to advance the civil, social, and economic rights of communities in the Philadelphia region facing discrimination, inequality and poverty. Rob has been a board member since 2019 and currently serves as secretary.
