Scholarships awarded to five Revere High School graduates
Earlier this month, we were honored to present scholarships totaling $4,500 to five Revere High School seniors. The scholarships are presented in memory of Carson Higgins, who would have been a graduating member of Revere’s 2022 class. Scholarship awardees were selected based on exemplifying generosity, kindness, love, grace, courage, family, teamwork, leadership, humor, volunteering, paying it forward, literacy, and education– traits that Carson embodied and encouraged in his short life.
$1,000 award winners: Owen Gartland, Ryan Cunningham, Jaden Yankovitz, and Aiden Zapisek
$500 award winner: Shay Makkar
Additionally, the foundation was able to give three Gift of Time Together applications to three students who are currently impacted by cancer.
“I will continue to strive to be like Carson by acting with kindness, courage, and a positive attitude. He has made a difference in many people’s lives, and I hope to do the same,” said Jaden Yankovitz, a 2023 recipient of the scholarship.?

Gift of Time Together Spotlight: Gingerich Family
At the end of May, the Gingerich family packed their bags and headed down to the Dover area for a getaway thanks to the Carson Higgins Memorial Foundation’s?The Gift of Time Together.?Heidi, a mom of four, is currently battling stage 4 breast cancer. In need of a getaway from appointments, treatment, and just the busyness of life, they spent three days together in a beautifully secluded cottage. Heidi and Travis have four beautiful children ranging in age from 10 to one year old and love spending time together outside and playing games.
For this getaway, we partnered with?Your Family’s Place?to provide a beautiful cabin and no-preparation meals for their time away. Aside from swimming, hiking, and playing in the game room, the family was gifted a photoshoot and the opportunity to have these memories forever.
Your support allows us to send families affected by cancer on memorable getaways and give the gift of time together.?
Founded in 2017, the Carson Higgins Memorial Foundation enhances the quality of life for children facing cancer and other life challenges by funding programs that provide therapeutic, medical and educational opportunities.
Carson Gene Higgins courageously faced neuroblastoma, a childhood cancer that affects the body’s nervous system. While Carson’s life was short, it was rich with faith, hope, love, and strength. His examples of kindness and generosity encourage us to live and love richly, to take each day as a gift, and to give generously. Together, we can bring hope to other families facing difficult and sometimes devastating life challenges. Learn more about Carson’s story and CHMF’s commitment at www.carsonstrong.org.
