Happy first of July, everyone, and a special Happy Canada Day to my Canadian connections! ??

June Highlights:

June was a productive month, though a bit quieter on the networking front due to prior commitments. I kicked off the month with another fantastic Bourne in Business event, featuring an inspiring talk by Harry Whinney on using video to promote yourself—an idea I will finally get around to!

Expanding into the US:

As I mentioned last week, I'm now set up to work with US clients, having completed my W-8BEN-E form for IRS purposes. I’m thrilled to be working with my new US client and excited about the opportunities ahead!

Personal Highlights:

On a personal note, it was lovely to catch up with a very old friend from California in London last week. Karen and I have been pen friends since 1980, and we’ve visited each other several times over the years. Last week, she was part of a group chaperoning high school graduates on a UK tour with the last stop being London, with students from California, Michigan, Texas, and Alabama. We had a wonderful time walking around Piccadilly and Leicester Square, and chatting while the girls shopped for gifts for their friends back home. One unexpected twist for Karen was the British heatwave—she had advised her group to pack for cooler weather!

Looking Ahead to July: I have some exciting networking events on my calendar this month:

  • Tomorrow: Bourne in Business with a talk by Andrew Martin on maximizing networking results. Am looking forward to this and I always learn so much from the speakers at each month's event.
  • July 4th: A busy day voting in the General Election and celebrating US Independence Day with American decor and a weekend BBQ although that will be sidelined a touch by the England game! My daughter is excited as it is the first time she is voting in a general election having turned 18 not long after the 2019 one so she just missed out.

  • July 11th: Lincolnshire Link and Drink event at Cask Kitchen in Lincoln. I've never been to this venue before so I'm hoping for good weather to enjoy the rooftop terrace views of the city and cathedral. Having missed Chamber events in June I am very much looking forward to catching up with everyone.
  • July 19th: Another Chamber event this time at Heckington Windmill and the 8 Sail Brewery in Sleaford. Although I don't drink, it does still sound a fantastic day with a tour of the windmill (which is the only 8 sail windmill in the world), bakehouse and brewery lined up!

In our area, children break up for the six-week summer holiday on July 19th. This school year has flown by, and I can hardly believe my son will be in Year 9 next academic year, starting to prepare for his GCSE subjects!

Wishing everyone a fantastic July! and hopefully the summer weather to go with it!

Great to see you at the talk, Dawn Martin. Delighted it was helpful and you're planning your video. Let me know if I can help further.
