July News: Why don’t individuals want to use digital health technologies?

Evidation and Sanofi publish the Behavioral Engagement and Activation Model Study (BEAMS)

Many individuals with Type 2 Diabetes (T2D) could benefit from digital health technologies (DHTs) but don’t use them, or stop using them too soon. We partnered with Sanofi to look at different groups of people with and without DHT use to understand who might require more tailored support to adopt DHTs and maximize their value.

Key findings include:

  • People with T2D who are more activated and have high self-efficacy for managing their diabetes are more likely to use DHTs, and to keep using them.
  • There are a range of reasons why individuals don’t use DHTs, including privacy, cost, the technology itself, and motivation levels.
  • Providers recommending DHTs to patients with high activation and self-efficacy could be effective in increasing adoption
