Exhibitions Update

July has come and gone and we've seen the equal highest number of exhibitions in the city this month and on track to have the best quarter of 2022. Covid cases are increasing in the city, though there aren't the enhanced restrictions seen in Q1 - business in the city more or less is business as usual. However, hotel quarantine remains and will continue to hold the city back until it is removed (not reduced).

Of course exhibitions for UK property led the way over the month - almost 53% were featured a project or focused on UK property. Australia was second and despite a strong start, Thailand was fourth behind Canada - a top three we have seen in that order for the last 2.5 years or so.

London continued its strong showing - not only last weekend, but for the whole of July, taking 16.5% of exhibitions with a city focus. Birmingham was second, possibly given some extra attention due to the Commonwealth games. Melbourne equalled Birmingham's tally and in the process relegating Manchester to fourth on the list. Bangkok was running second at one point, but ended up finishing fifth.

29 exhibitions were seen last weekend - the highest tally for July and trending upward. The UK's share of exhibitions has crept up slightly over the last couple of months, as Australia's has fallen slightly. Thailand's share also increased (as did its absolute number of exhibitions).?

Focusing for a moment on UK property exhibitions in Hong Kong, July was the highest monthly tally for UK exhibitions so far in 2022, with an increase of about 30% on its next most active month. The 90 day share is well and truly above 30% of all UK exhibitions now and even the YtD figure is moving closer. Zone 3 is proving popular in the recent months - almost 1 in 3 project focused exhibitions are for property there. Birmingham and Manchester bounced back from a weaker June - Birmingham had its best month for 2022, whilst Manchester was off its peak, was still healthy with a dozen exhibitions focused on the city during July.

Australia saw 20 exhibitions in July - almost 70% of them for Melbourne, followed by Sydney and Brisbane. Next up is Canada - Toronto saw the lion's share with over 60% of exhibitions, Vancouver and Calgary also featured in July.?

The usual Asian destinations were also in the mix: Cambodia, Japan, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam. Portugal also got a look in.
