July 2021 is here and it's unbelievable that we've sailed through the first half of this year, more than likely without spending a great deal of time on that fancy marketing plan you worked on last year. I'm here to tell you it's okay, we've all been there and it's not too late to rehash those goals, strategies and tactics that you planned on completing but didn't. You still have time to add in those wins for the upcoming 3rd and 4th quarter.
Dust off that marketing plan and check-out these quick and easy to follow steps to trail blaze through this next half of the year.
- Complete a mid-year audit.
- Things change! Check-in with all of the teams and departments that marketing supports, and get aligned with current goals.
- Identify incomplete 1st and 2nd quarter strategies, goals and tactics, and prioritize against what you have planned for the second half of the year. Add them in where appropriate, and make realistic adjustments to completion dates. (This works better when you include your team, and your decision makers into the conversation).
- Get back to basics and revisit who your audience is and update personas accordingly.
- Do a deep-dive into your overall analytics because there is always room for improvement. Don't wait until the end of the year to realize that the initiative you launched in the first half of the year is under performing.
- Meet your audience where they are! Depending on what type of industry you are in and how impacted your organization has been from the last 18+ months of the global pandemic, it is likely that you had to shift to meet your audience and capture their business. If we've learned anything over the last year and a half, it's that our marketing strategies must be ready to shift on a moments notice.
